I just ordered 25 lbs of dry rock (key largo) from marcorock.com and it will be here in 6 days (because of 4 o july) and my tank is going through the green algae stage. My plan is now to save the dry rock for later and let the green algae run its coarse on the old rocks. How long does it "run its coarse"? Would there be an adverse effect on the tank if i did this? is it a good idea? Is there a safe point in time to say that the green algae stage is over?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I would personally put the dry rock in and let it's hazing begin. . . Tried by fire (green fire.) How long it takes to run it's coarse completely depends on the conditions of the tank. Keep nutrients low and good water quality.
