green algae

    anyone know what specimen the algae is growing on in that pic???? this tank some things in it that i dont know the name of???

    Can do, but if you mean a fine powdery algae then that is Micro Algae

    the Green hair algae is a nuisance and you need to work on erradicating it before it takes over your tank

    Using a Phosphate reactor or even a Phosphate removal resin in a cannister filter can help to starve this algae out of your system

    do you have a clean up crew, hermits, snails of various species
    check through the 1st link I posted (John Maloney,s nuisance algae thread, for more information about erradication

    The Ulva - sea lettuce are the large green leaves you have in the other images I believe
    and thats a macro algae and its a good guy IMO

    i have a couple blue legged hermits, two snails, and a peppermint shrimp. Would it hurt to reach in the tank and remove these pieces of green algea???? Do you know about coral placement in the tanks???

    it wont hurt to remove what you can- most people do that at times

    looks like ur starting ur cycle in my old biocube i had about 15 20lbs of rock but ur good as far as getting started just check ur ammonia and nitrites when they hit zero ur ready to go , also expect a lot of that stuff on the rocks to die (not a bad thing) and good luck
