So about 2 weeks ago my GBTA split. the one "half" was a bit smaller then the other half. The other day the "smaller" one was on the sand bottom just laying their. today he looks bad. here are some pictures.

I do regular bi-weekly water changes. all levels are good temp is 78-79.

all my fish are well and my other red tip is doing great. It is 5 months old and the other half of this GBTA is going fine. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I would remove it.

Something was obviously wrong with the clone. It may have a bacterial infection at this point and you do not want that to spread.

If you tried to feed it, the clone might not have been ready. The development of the GI tract takes time to replicate after cloning.

    It happens.

:( sorry to hear, if im not mistaken i think i read somewhere that they are a little more vulnerable after splitting. my orange bta did the same thing not long ago but both seem to be handeling themselves (one was slightly smaller than the other too)

are you sure water is good? nems are know to split for opposite reasons, either the environment is perfect for them and the flourish or they split as a survival mechanism in hope to search for a better environment elsewhere.

based on the pictures it looks like a goner to me :(, it also looks like something has been feeding on it. do you have any hermits or shrimps?
