    Hey all,

I need help with controlling an outburst of GBA. It seems to be the new thing in my tank right after a GHA attack. Only reason I am posting for help is that I have some fish that aren't so invert friendly. I am willing to try and get some Emerald Crab to try and control the problem but here is my list of fishes:

    Black Volitan Lionfish (5"-6")
    Painted Angler (Softball Size)
    Bi-Color Pseudochromis
    Lawnmower Blenny
    Clarkii Clownfish
    Scopas Tang

It is a 55 Gallon tank with 3" of Sand. It has roughly 60lbs-70lbs of LR. I have a 10 Gallon Sump that uses an Eshopps PF-300 Overflow Box, the sump contains a Berlin X2 Skimmer (junk!, but works), Heater, Cheato, 9w UV Sterilizer and MAG7 Pump with recirc. Curent Sundial 216w 2-10k, 2-Act Blue. Lastly I have a Green Bubble Tip Anemone (always looks like on the verge of dieing), a Rose BTA (Does great!), Bubble Coral, Xenia, and a Zoanthid Frag. Koralia Stg2 for water movement.

So is it even worth trying to get an Emerald Crab to help the GBA with my current fish?

Emeralds only pop the small bubbles and thus spreading it around. Carefully remove it with a toothpick.

The urchin won't touch it. Remove the rock is going to be your best bet.

The type of "bubble algae" that you have is pertinent to the resolution. Do you have a pic of the bubble algae for identification? I found, for venticaria ventricosa, my fingers were the best weapon. I would wait until they were the perfect size to grab and remove. Valonia is a bit of a different fix. Ultimately, critters are a waste of money. Good water quality and manual removal seem to have worked best for me. Good luck!8)

I disagree, i still have some in my 46 from when it was first set up, but if it gets bad I toss a mithrax in there and he cleans it up well! Most people can even find bubble algae in there now.... though i can.... i always see it.... KHHHANN!!! But then the mithrax crab kills everything...

What you want to do is to syphon the bubble algae out without popping it. These save me from several algae from my anthelia from spreading to my tank. really helpful

The 3/16" rigid tubing fits inside regular soft airline tubing, which then fits inside the 1/4" tubing. The larger diameter tubing helps prevent clogs when siphoning chunks of cyano or bubble algae. The rigid tubing helps you aim accurately without tagging your corals, and also restricts the amount of water you siphon out in the process.
