I run a 55 gallong reef tanks I use a 960 watt light consisting of two 250 watt MH and the rest of the wattage in Flourescent lighting all of my coral has flourished besides my one small peice of blueish green bubble coral (green ricordea) it hasn't grown in the whole 7 months I've had it at all and always looks like crap I also have candy canes, taro trees, tons of zoos, cabbage coral, 4 different types of mushrooms, some pink carpet polyps, and a condy anemone and everyone of those corals has grown tonsand multiplied anyone know why my bubble coral hasn't grow at all?

Didnt you just get that light? what did you have before? where is the placement of the ric? they prefer the bottom regions especially with that light. if you had a much lower light, it could be experiencing a bit of reaction to the major increase in the light. give it some time if this is the case and make sure it is at the bottom of the tank.

Edit: just did some calculating... you said 960 watts? that equates out to 500 watts of MH and 460 watts of Flourescent. 17+ watts per gallon? OUch. talk about coral sunburn. FWIW, I had 440 watt vho over my 75 (same depth and length) and I kept almost whatever I wanted SPS wise. heck, on my 180 I only have 900 watts of light with 3x 250wt MH and 4x 36watt T-5 and that tank is 24" deep. Rics dont need a ton of light to grow.
also, watch out for heating issues with those 250's on that small of a body of water. most folks with that size tank use 150's with some actinic supplementation from t-5.

im not trying to be negative, just wanting to get an understanding on what you have.

Yeah dude... I don't even know how you can run two 250 MH and flourescents over a 55 gallon tank

Not only am I confused about the lighting (like the other responses), but I'm still confused as to what type of coral we're talking about. Is it a ricordea, a bubble coral, or both? A bubble coral and a ricordea are two completely different things.

Taking the lighting confusion out of play.......................bubble corals can be hit or miss. Most of these are stress from the shipping and can kick the bucket rather fast. But it in a low light, low flow area and see how they do. They tend of want to feed off of the waste in the take vs photosynthesising.
