How long out of water will it take before it dies out? There is only one Green Striped Mushroom on the rock.

What kind of "bubble algae" do you have? A bunch of small ones? A bunch of larger bubbles?

I have 5 or 6 small bubbles (25% the size of a #2 pencil eraser) and would rather not have the crab in the tank. Thank you for helping me. I am not new I just have yet to have any bubble Algae.

I have seen some in my tank from time to time. I pulled them out by hand while being very careful not to break them. It seems to have worked for me. I have only seen them appear twice over the course of a year.

Pull the rock out and pull the pieces off. Some may break. Then poor water from the tank over the rock and into a bucket to flush away the spores from the ones that broke before putting it back in your DT.

I found that manual removal worked the best for me. I had ventricaria ventricosa though. Much easier to grab and remove. As with other nuisance (macro)algae, starve it.

If you do decide to take the rock out, you don't have to lose that mushroom. They are very easy to frag, and super hardy. I'm sure you can find a useful write up on this site somewhere.

I took the rock out and popped the bubbles off by prying under them and breaking off small peices of rock. The mushrooms are fine out of water for at least 15 minutes maybe more. I went ahead and took him off also and drilled a hole and put my recordea on it and threw the other back in the tank he will be fine. I have mushrooms living just fine in around and under the rubble pile so he is there with family he hasnt seen in ages...What a reunion that must be.

If you have a big enough tank, a sailfin tang will eat bubble algae. They even eat the big valonia that emerald crabs won't touch.
