Yes there are actually quite a few different colors that will appear under different water condition.

Yes, I gots lots of it, its dark green and I hate it. I wish my purple or pink would take over and I dont want to use products like purple up. I'm happy as long as the tanks happy. I think a lot of its has to do with lighting. It seems that the purple stuff usually grows better under lower light or under side of rocks as compared to the green stuff if ya got it.

Green coralline according to all my marine algae text books from uni doesn't exist, for it to be green it must have chloraphyll a and b which only occurs in green algaes. Coralline is part of the Rhodophyta or red algae and do not contain chloraphyll a or b.

I thought the green and brown encrusting algae in my tank was coralline at first as it was very difficult to remove from the glass and needs scrubbing with a scourer. On some areas of the glass it was growing into hair algae. I am 100% sure there is no such thing as green coralline, and what you have is the start of hair algae. This also seen on ATS, as the turf or hair algae.

Phil -in my tank, it behaves exactly like coralline , it grows in a circle type formation and it needs to be scraped and the resulting particles from scraping act exactly as the pink and purple ones

Ill get some images up (tomorrow when lights are on) its been there for months now and no other algae has developed out of it

i agree, it is not the start of hair algae. Ive got tons of it and it grows with the coraline, and just the same as the coraline...

When you lightly scrub it does it reveal a calcium carbonate skeleton? If not then I doubt it is coralline... Coralline is called coralline because it grows with a calcium carbonate skeleton like coral.
