I am looking in getting a green encrusting montipora and wanted your thoughts. I have a 75gal corner over flow VHO lighting 2 act. and 2 white bulbs eveything I read said vho is ok for sps corals just need to acclimate them to the light is this true. water parameters are great even just had LFS test water to make sure. I recently tried a montipora digita and it died and my water parameters perf. only thing is I started it high in my tank and think i burned it. so do I or dont I its a very nice piece and dont want to kill it if its out of my league I do have a acropora sp thats been doing great for 2 months.

if you have acro's doing fine...then i think you should be fine with an encrusting monti...I have a monti cap under t5's and it's doing fine. (if that has anything to do with the subject...;))

does this coral need to be acclimated to the light.start low in the tank and slowly move it up over a couple of months its currently under MH lighting at the LFS

I would say no. Start it in the middle of the tank and go from there. Your VHO shouldn't touch the MH for lighting unless the bulbs at the LFS are REALLY REALLY old.
