    I have heard of this before and the out come is not going to be what you want to hear. The time I have heard of this happening the hammer coral died. It is pretty much the same coral. For some reason he was not happy.

    I've had a frog spawn do the same thing to me once. I though the thing had been eaten by something in my tank after finding the skeleton empty one day. A few days later i found the frog spawn behind some live rock. I attempted to replace it in some live rock but it it never survived. I don't want to smash your hopes that it will survive, i just wanted to say the exact same thing has happened to me.
