I had one that did the same thing from time to time, still not sure what causes it, but it should go back to normal by morning or so.

    Possibly trying to expel waste.

I did notice that my ss goby is burrowing near it , every time the goby goes away the goni starts to come back out, could this be a culprit or like some have said
    Expelling waste ?

So I get home today and now the goni is all sucked up, so figured I'd turn my lights on to full power as they're usually at 60/40 whites in the lead, slowly in the past 15 mins a few polyps are starting to extend.
    Hmmmmmmmmmm

Seems to me for some reason it's dying, not sure why but I can see a spot where skeleton is coming through

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Sorry to hear this.

You never posted your parameters and you posted this happened after a wc.

They are for sure not the easiest coral but their demise is usually a slow process.

Are you dosing anything, running a reactor, change out the carbon?

If you can return it I would highly recommend it. I picked one of these up and it slowly withered away over months. It will slowly lose polyps until it becomes a skeleton. Mine was softball sized. They are very difficult to keep alive in the aquarium as the eat very small food particles in the water column which are difficult to achieve in our aquariums. I have been told that the red goniopora's are easier to keep. Definately a great coral, my clowns hosted in it for quite some time with no ill affects. Its just extremely hard to keep them alive with their supplemental food requirements. Just my 2 cents.
