    Hi everyone!

So my tank got started up for about 3 weeks ago. The nitrogen cycle has succeed at a rapid paste. No ammonia, no nitrite and no nitrate. So i'm pretty happy about that. But for a couple of days ago my day was ruined. Hair algae was completely covering almost all of my rocks and the glass was covered completely aswell. I got so mad and thought i have done everything wrong. I use 0 TDS RO/DI water so no phosphates or nitrates have occured by that cause. Although i did feed a little bit to the tank to make the nitrogen cycle happen faster (Making ammonia appear so that bacteria will eat them and multiply etc.). So what is going on?! Please help, i cant see what i've done wrong. The skimmer works absolutely amazing collecting alot of waste out of the tank. I do also have carbon bags in my sump to get rid of the phosphates. My pH is stable at about 8.1 - 8.2. Please help if i have done anything wrong or if thats just how it works. I hope it will die off or my blenny, snails, and crabs will get rid of it when i get them here the next week. Thanks for reading, hope i can get some help! :)

I know there are different types of algae blooms in new tanks - I'm thinking hair algae may be one type. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. You may just want to remove as much as you can manually. You may also want to think about adding some GFO to your system in addition to the carbon. Others may chime in here with the typical algae sequence in new tanks. I think diatoms are usually first....

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Did you run the lighting during the cycle?

A GHA out brake during an initial cycle happens to the best of us. It's not a big deal, it will pass as long as you continue to use RO/DI water and not over feed.

I had GHA outbrakes around the same point on all 3 of my tanks. It will go away over time. Feel free to do manual removal or add some Cerith snails.
