Hi everyone. So I've been having a minor issue with Green hair algae. It's odd because my params are 0-0-0 and phosphates are also 0. I'm also running phosban. I have a few patches of GHA that I will pluck away every so often, it grows back since I can never remove it completely off the rock surfaces.

Recently my Green Star Polyps have been growing like weeds and have encroached onto neighboring rocks. However, the GSP's have grown into a patch of GHA so It's very difficult to pluck the GHA without damaging the coral. So my question is will the GSP eventually grow over and eradicate the algae if it keeps growing over it. I've already witnessed the bleaching of my porite coral from the GSP getting too close to it. Thank you!:)

As you can see here in the center, there is the GSP mat with polyps under the GHA.

I can't answer your question, unfortunately (hopefully someone can), but what could be the cause of the GHA? Do you use tap water? The parameters could be reading 0 because they are being consumed by the algae. Just a few thoughts.

Thanks for chiming in. I use RODI water though and I assume my chaeto is consuming the nutrients although the GHA is a possibility.

Buy a turbo snail place it in the area to consume the gha. Not sure but in my experience the gha always wins over corals.
