My 55 gallon has been up and running for about 10 months.
I am using a t5 fixture with ATI bulbs. I am using a canister filter (Rena xp3). my salinity is .24 . My params are good. My phosphate is at .25. My bulbs are about 5 months old.
I have green hair algea beginning to take over. Can anyone help me identify possible problems.
Other factors... my aquarium gets very little sunlight. my bulbs are on a total of 13 hours a day. 13 hours a day. 13 actinic and 10 daytime.

    Here are some pics.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, i recently added a lawnmower blenny hoping this would help.
    Thanks,
    JP

PO4 should be less than .03. Higher then this with nitrate will provide HA. I would run GFO to remove the excess PO4 and turbo snails will decimate what is there.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Tanks looks good Indiana Boy. Phosphates are too high though should be more around 0.05 ppm. Look at some GFO or phosban.

    How old are the bulbs?

Thanks for your advice. .25 is the lowest that my test strips read. Also i run Chemi Pure Elite in my Canister Filter. Nitrates are at Zero.

    hello Corailline.
The bulbs are 4 or 5 months old. phosphates are at 0.25 . this is the lowest reading on my test strips. I am using Chemi Pure Elite in my Canister Filter.

Nitrates read 0, they are not 0 if you have HA. Chemipure elite is a mix of carbon and GFO. It also has some deionizing resins, but these are exhausted immediately in saltwater, due to it's ionic nature. So, you can add GFO or more chemi pure elite. It doesn't matter, but GFO separately is cheaper. Turbo snails love ha and should eat it quickly though. Do you have any? If turbos won't eat it, then it is probably bryopsis, which is more problematic. I'd star by adding more GFO and turbos and see what happens. You can run GFO in a canister filter, just increase the recommended dose by 30% or so.

GREAT Advice. Between the chemical and the turbo snails and less feeding it will take no time. I used to place the snails on the GHA before and they would just mow a line through it. Do not get to many because they will die after its all gone. Keep patience and youll be ok!

I would cut your daylight bulbs down to maybe 1/2 the time. Or you can do the 3 day lights out treatment.

I'm strong to the finish cause I eats me spinach. I'm ReefBruh the reefing man. Toot Toot.
