green hair and red slime taking over. (lighting problem)

    Thank you for all the information Steve. I will get some new lighting tonight. Also as I am running phosgaurd by reached should I still use some gfo? I am running one wave maker atm as my form as water movement however I may get another small one for the other end of the tank.

    Phosgaurd would do same job as GFO in terms of removing phosphate
    but it has 2 negatives being an aluminum based media rather than iron based which GFO is

    1) it can leach absorbed phosphate when its exhausted so unless you change it correct time you can end up getting nowhere with it
    2) some leather coral species are reported as having bad reactions to aluminum based phosphate removers

    so for those 2 reasons I now only use GFO
    I have used Phosgaurd in the past, but prefer to stick with the generally accepted safer option these days

    ^ I started using my own water (much cheaper to mix your own) and my algae almost completely went away, cyano and GHA. From now on I only trust my own water system.

    fish, cuc, you, flow, lighting, and water chem
    these might clean up the algae!
