I have had water in my tank for 3-4 weeks now. I used only ro water. The diatom start blooming for week or so now, but I have do my research, that the diatom will go away by itself. My concern now is the algae I having now, is cover my live rock and some on my glass. Some of the green algae could be 1/2 to 1 inch long. OMG!!!. What can I do to get rid of this green hairy algae?

    get your water cleaner...

but you have new tank syndrome, so it should go away once your levels start to stabilize a bit more...

but you could always get a gfo reactor and run some gfo..

gha loves phosphates...gfo removes phosphates... no phosphates usually = no bad algae

GHA is normal part of the cycle and what you do now will determine if you get rid of it or have problems for as long as you have the tank.

Get a CUC from a sponsor of this site, preferably reefcleaners. An pencil urchin will demolish that hair algae. But animals that eat it are just band-aids to cover the problem.

    Don't overfeed.

Do regular waterchanges and keep up on maintenance.

Get a good skimmer and use only ro/di water or ro.

Emerald crabs munch the green hair but if they get hungry down the road when they are big and the algae is gone they get sketch with fish and or corals. I love mine but they are only midsize.
