I have 2 leather finger, 1 green and 1 brown. they both were next to each other and were growing pretty well since more that a month. suddenly my green stopped opening , thought as they were touching each other, the brown might be irritating it. so i removed it and glued it to a frag plug and kept it in an open space. but it never opened since 2 days......
    My parameters:
    Ph: 8.2
    kh: 8
    mag: 1200

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Finger leathers like Toad Stools and other leathers will close develop a waxy surface, shed that waxy surface and re-open, sometimes increasing flow can help to shorten the time closed and decreasing the number of times the corals closes.

They are pretty hard to kill is given decent water quality. Yes it should re-open.

Leathers will close much more frequently and for longer if algae of any type is trying to grow on the surface of the coral or detritus collects on the surface.

Once the algae issue resolves the coral will remain open longer if all other variables such as lighting and water quality are in line.
