I don't know if this means much but he looks great compared to the mandarins that I've seen at my LFS.

    Great pics none the less.

I am not familiar with that species enough to give an opinion.

Yea he's a phycadelic, I just called him the wrong thing.

My tank has been set up since March. I do not have a sump or refugium.
I have about 70 lbs LR and Chaeto in my DT to give the pods something to reproduce in.
He will not eat any prepared food. I also have a 2 gallon tank that I am raising pods in to help support my DT population.

Your mandarin looks good. Post another pic in about 4 months. 2 months isn't long enough to tell if he is thriving. I got a mandarin 7 months ago. Looks about like yours but you can see 2 lateral lines going down his back. Some days he looks skinnier than others. Mine doesn't look unhealthy, but I know its time to add some pods. I have an infested sump that I swap chaeto and live rock in and out of the display tank. Whenever I notice both lines, I'm quick to swap out a porous rock and a wad of chaeto I have stuffed behind my rocks with populated rock and chaeto from the sump.

I would suggest swapping out rocks/chaeto in your two gallon with your display. That has worked well for me so far.

Looks good but like mattheuw1 said, keep a close eye and post pics again in a few months. They starve SLOWLY so something to keep an eye out for. I've had mine for over a year and 1/2 and it is a fatty but I have LOTS of pods and mine takes mysis and brine too. K+
