Hello folks. I am a new member here, and new to the hobby (though I did a LOT of research...including on this site). It has been a joy to set up the aquarium, and watch it grow. I spend about 2-3 hours a day on it (testing, watching, worrying).

    Anywho, here is my question:

I bought a green mushroom polyp from my LFS. Typical diameter is about 1-1.5 inches. He did NOT come on an aragonite base, as they did not have individuals on bases, and I wanted to watch him split and populate with patience.

The "problem" (if it is one) is this. My tank is a 12 gallon Aquapod, and the pump inlet is set moderately high. The xenia I have like the flow. The mushroom does not stay rooted to any of my live rock though. He is healthy, but wandering around my substrate.

Is this a problem, and if so, how do I root him/her/it? Originally, I covered him partially with a glass tea-light candle holder, but took it out as I know they might like to wander.

    Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    - Lawrence

You can get netting, such as bridal netting, place the mushroom on a rock and cover it. I would leave it until it attaches.

Get a cleaned out margerine container, fill it with some live rock rubble, cover the container with bridal mesh, and set in a low flow area. It will attach itself to one of the peices withing a week.

or you can dry the base of the mushroom and dry a piece of rock and use super glue GEL to attach it
