Green powder

    I'm not sure what it is, but I've been getting like a green-powder accumulating in my tank. I noticed it first on my intakes but even after adding a plant just yesterday, I can notice the "powder" on it. I'm assuming its a type of algae?

    Is the tank fairly new, if so this is normal it will pass in time part of being a new tank, what are your phosphate levels?

    The tank is about 1.5 years old. I'll have to get back to you on the phosphate levels.

    Here in Wethersfield the Pollen has been really bad this last week or two if you open windows it well could be pollen . I've seen it happen many times ..

    Interesting. I live on a wooded lot and the windows have been open during the day...
    If it is pollen, will it just break down after a while?

    Yes it will break down and die skimmer will have a green tinge to it also ours here has for several days to the last week , In Va my house is well wooded and on a seldom and rare non humid day if I open the windows I'll get that green film on and in the tank last yr here it was all over the tank..

    My phosphate level is at 0.1
