After adding some T5 lighting say 2 weeks ago and running it 4 hours in the morning and 4-5 hours at night my back glass is covered with BRIGHT green purple and maroon colored algae is this good or bad and should I leave it BTW it's a 220 gallon FOWLR setup.

Sounds like coralline algae to me. this is actually a desired algae by most salt water and reef aquarists. Congrats....any pics?

That doesn't quite sound like coralline to me, because of the rate you're saying it grew at. Pics would help.

Is the algae hard or soft? Can you wipe it clean off the back glass?

Bubbly almost purple/maroon is most likely cyanobacteria.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks like cynobacteria and the beginnings of GHA. I suspect you might have a nutrient problem with phosphates and that the new lighting just caused a bloom. I would check phosphate levels and the TDS value of your water source and possibly use some type of GFO, or phosgard.
