Green Sand

I have had this for about a week now. I would think it is just excess nutrients. I have not done a water change in about 2 weeks. What do people think this is? I will do a grave cleaning of that area also.

Just scoop it into a cup using a plastic spoon, then toss it out. Then try to find and correct the problem so it's under control.

 

Hello Adam, more info is required. Age of lights, feeding amounts and frequency, what type of filtration and is there a window near by.

 

Also how is the flow in that area? Could be a dead spot.

 

Just looks like a little algae breakout. What are your params? NO3 and PO4 specifically.

 

I was fighting that same problem about two or three months age. I tried everything - Params, added a power head, scooped it out, changed my lights.....
It was all over the top layer of my sand.

Asked my LFS and two independent peaple their said that they used Mark Weiss Algae Magic with good results. I tried it and sure enough, I haven't had the problem since.

I am a Believer.
