I have a green star polyp that I got as a frag and has done wonderful up until now. It was always open and has grown a ton. Now it won't open at all! The mat is still nice an purple but it's been a few days since it has opened up. Should I be worried? All the other corals are doing excellent and the fish are fine too.:confused:

Brush them off with a soft bristled brush under the current of a powerhead

Yes, or they can even form their own bio-jelly that can prevent opening. If its something that needs to be done repeatedly, move to a higher flow area ;)

They need high flow. Maybe try to move them?

Mine are in a very high flow area and they love it. If anything could settle on them, debris of any sort, I would be quite surprised.

Great guys, thanks. I will brush them off and put them in a higher flow area and see if that does it!

Ok, so I brushed it off and moved it to a higher flow area. It is still closed. As long as it is purple it is still ok right? I'm a bit worried, this is one of my favorite corals!
