So over the weekend I noticed that my green star polyps weren't out anymore. The only things I changed in my tank was that I got some new coral on thrusday and hook up my aqua c on friday could this be why this happened.

that happened to me too once, and in my case my water chemistry has all that great. my alk and cal was too high. test your water first, did you add any chemicals recently? there are a hardy coral for the most part, something has to be wrong somewhere.

Could be new corals being stressed by change in environment, released toxins that your GSP's don't like.

Do a water change and all should be OK in day or so.

Adding skimmer should not have anything to do with the GSP's shutting down for a while, unless there was a significant change in water flow because of it. Again, they are just being grumpy, and will blossom when they are ready.

Mine have done that a number of times. The next day they are open and fine. Make sure you didn't have any crabs crawling around on them. I think when something pisses off my leather coral is when they are closed the next day but I am not positive.

Might baster or small power head blow them off and a soft toothbrush will do it also. They will get something to settle on them at times and will not open algae also well stop them from opening.
