green star polyps

    i want to add some nice colour to my mantis tank and have been told star polyps are a good place to start but would my mantis harm them in any way i would place them on top of the rock work so he doesnt bury them with sand also feel free to sugest others thanks.:)

    I Think that should work out the way you planned with the GSP. However they are known to take over tanks over time! So I've been told.

    yeah i have just read that they will spread accross rock work and even the glass of a tank but im sure they could be kept under control

    IMO, would be worth a shot.. Others on here regret having them, sure someone with them will chime in shortly when more people are on. Me personally I prefer the soft corals and polyps... :) You can get some pretty coal zoas, and they do spread pretty fast.

    i personally love them and allthough they do spread(i like a big mass of them)but there easy to trim back and you can always trade off frags.

    Well that all depends on water conditions,flow,lighting etc.But if they start getting out of control(which takes a while),you can easily remove large peices of the mat,or isolate them to a solitary rock(not touching others)and that will help keep them in check.I usually touch and handle them to make them close up and the peal or tear a section off the mat off(you will not harm them,very,very hardy);)

    It probably wouldn't be a daily chore, or even weekly.If you have some on a rock you would like them to encrust and can easily remove that rock to trim some off if needed it could work out well.

    if only i lived near you i could of got some for free. by the way i think if it spreads accross your glass it will look great.
