    I have had GSP for SOOOOO long! but I have never seen my colony do this, i got a new colony of a different color on saturday, it opened Sunday and Monday and then yesterday and today it hasnt opened..I used the turkey baster really quick to blow it and this white film substance was on it...Almost like a leather coral when it sheds. It was weird and cleaned most of it off but will it be okay? All my params are where they should be.

    Ive read that GSP closes up for no reason at all. Give it some time.
    Others can chime in.

    Alright..I have heard that too, but never heard it getting a clear film cover over it.

    Give it a little more flow to keep detritus build up off of it,it's also normal for them to close(sometimes for several days)for no reason.

    It’s normal, it appears as if the entire colony is shedding and then a few days later they open up. I wouldn’t worry.

    I went to my LFS to go shopping for a lil bit and asked him about it, i told him a kenya tree did fall on it and was ontop of it for about 30 seconds.. HE said that the GSP was protecticing itself and stuff..Hopefully it will do okay, i put it in some higher flow and light also.
