green turf on substrate

    hi i have had my setup running for 2 1/2 months now and i am starting to notice a green turf developing on the substrate. it looks like its only in the open areas as it doesnt go near any rocks. i will post a pic later tonight!
    any info will help!!!

    Do you have any nassarius snails in your tank? I'm pretty new, just asking!!! I have 3 in my nano, the seem to keep the sand pretty well stirred up!!

    The turf is hair algae.

    I used a sea bunnie to solve my hair algae problem...Guess the nassarius idea was pretty far off.. oooooppssss Geekdafied you rule....

    Check your nitrates and phosphates. Are your lights T5HO's or regular T5's? Hair algae needs food, aka nitrates and phosphates, and light. Also check your KH or DKH whichever you have a test for. Low KH can also cause it to bloom.
