    I have had my water mixing for a day now and the container has a green film around the inside of it. What do you think it is? Phosphate leaking in from the container?

    I would say it's the container. It should have a number on the bottom of it with a triangle around it. Anything below a 7 will start disintegrating on itself after a while.
