Hey guys, well i just wanted to say hello again, i actually registered couple months back and was thinking of setting up a 55 gal FOWLR. I backed out form the project because i didnt feel like i had what i truly needed to make successful, like room for sump and a budget for a great skimmer. Well good news, i recently bought and 45gal which will get me started into the hobby =]

Here is what i have soo far going in.

    45 Gallong Tank
20 Gal Sump w. refugium (DIY)
    40lbs of Live Sand
50lbs of dry rock (thanks to reefcleaners!)
    CPR Overflow CS100
Via Aqua Return Pump rated for 740 GPH
    Marineland Stealth 250w Heater
    Odyssea 36" T5 Lighting Unit
Generic Ebay Protein Skimmer (Given to me for free)
    Koralia Evolution 1050

Ok, i know your probably thinking, didn't he just say he was going to get a good skimmer? Well, I plan to and its in the budget. Its just one of my friends was also going in to the SW hobby and bought a generic eBay skimmer, he never used it and decided to give it to me. I might as well try it as ive read a lot of mix reviews about it and if it works well for me then it just saved me some $$ lol but to be honest it just me being optimistic but if it fails, i have the money to buy a good one. =]

I also have some questions about the sump, im not sure if i should ask here or make a new thread in the appropriate section?

Thanks! and i look forward into spending hours on this forum. lol

thanks guys, im really excited. im just waiting on some of the stuff to arrive to begin. I still need to make my sump but im waiting to get my return pump to see the exact measurements and requirements. i was also doing some testing on the ebay skimmer, it seems to me its the JEBO 182 II Skimmer, unfortunately my friend threw away the instruction paper, he told me it was just a piece of paper with pictures on it anyway. lol Anyway, it comes with a 500 GPH PH and the intake on the skimmer is narrowed and restricts alot flow which doesnt produce a lot of bubbles. I was thinking of drilling the intake to make it larger and let more water flow & producing more micro bubbles. I also have to figure out its minimum water level requirement. -_- .. but if all else fails im looking at a Eshopps Protein Skimmer PSK-75.. do you guys have any recommendations?
