Would like to say hello to everyone at 3reef, and introduce myself. My name is Cody and I am a beginner in the saltwater world. I have had fresh water tanks for years but I am currently in the process of "slowly" buying everything I will need to start my custom 100g tank and transition it into saltwater.

Welcome! I'm also new to 3reef and saltwater, you'll find that 3reef is very helpful and full of some great people.

I originally bought my current tank with the intentions of making it another freshwater tank, but I saw a friend's marine tank and had to start one of my own.

The thing I can suggest for you is think big. Don't bother skimping on equipment or buying the bare minimum, it's only going to cost you more in the end. I bought a cheap two bulb fixture because my tank was supposed to be a FOWLR and now I have corals. I had to upgrade my cheap bulbs and now I want to get a better 4 bulb fixture so I have more coral options.

Would have saved myself $90 bucks if I just went with the better fixture in the first place.
