Ok, so I finally got my tank in, decided to start my build thread now...

This is going to be a reef tank. It's by far the largest aquarium I've assembled, and I'm really hopping to correct many of the mistakes I made setting up my 58g reef.

    Equipment on hand to date:
    180 gallon drilled glass aquarium
    - Black painted pine stand. Probably wont use.
    - 2x Megaflow standpipe/return kits
    72" Maristar light fixture
    - 3x 400w "Select-A-Watt" Lumatek solid state ballasts
    SWC Xtreme 200 skimmer
Poseidon PS4 external pump for return
    2x Vortech MP40W for flow.
Spectrapure MaxCap DI 180gpd RO system.

    Equipment Planned:
60-70 gallon acrylic tank to be converted to sump/refugium
Bulbs. Probably UV 454 and Ultra's on the T5 with 10,000ºK DE 250W HQIs.
Neptune Systems "Apex" digital reef controller with pH, temp, ORP.
    Ozone and/or UV sterilization equipment
    2 or 3 dosing pumps
ATO system. Probably use my DIY solenoid deal again.
    1hp chiller
    several smaller heaters

Anyways, it's going on 3am here I need to get some sleep, btu I will add more tomorrow and as I collect the equipment to get it all assembled.

As always comments, words of advice, encouragement, and correction are always welcome.

    What's the alternative?
Looks like this will be a great tank. I can't wait to see some water in it.

Looking forward to watching your build on 3reef. With your equipment list it sounds like you have done a fairshare of research. I have an Apex lite and I love it so far, the plug and play part of there system is awesome.

Congrats on the upcoming build,we demand pictures asap. I was at one of the lfs and was looking at a 180g tank thinking that it would be so nice. Corner overflow on each end drilled the whole kit and kaboodle, for the tank alone though was $570. They have had it for a long time it was full of spider webs and all dusty.

    Added:

1/5hp JBJ Arctica chiller. Found it new, but a little old sitting in a garage, on CL for $300. Since I'm not needing to ched more than 4-5 degrees in the summer it should work fine - JBJ recommends it for a 180, so we'll see.

ibefishy: $570 is a great price for a driller 180 - you knwo you want it!

first pic, of the tank and stand sitting in my shop... NOT final location:

    lol update!

So this tank sat in my warehouse for 4 years, and I just looked at it and said "soon"

Soon has come... I am in a new building (I bought it!) and I have a perfect place for an inwall build with a fishroom behind....

so I will be posting more pics as I get along with this. I'm still deep in the process of moving my business, but as things settle this will be the next big project.

But here's the first pic of the new build, an exploratory hole in the wall to see what I'm working with...
