I dropped the different types of snails in different spots just for fun, but I like the idea of dropping them all together in a corner so you can remove the dead ones though. I don't think I had any dead ones though, but I only ordered a quick crew for a 15 gallon.

I got the quickcrew from John for my 29g. It must have been over 200 snails in all.

I judt dumped the bags of snails into different areas of the tank after temp accllimation. But I didn't worry about separating the snails further.

Looking great, btw. I love those last two shots taken from the ends of the tank.

    Thank you very much!!!

Makes sense... Should be quite the site!! 400 snails plus John always throws in extra!

Thank you! I desperately need new shots. The tank has come a long way lately!! Much much more coralline covered and I have gotten quite a few new colonies. The video is pretty up to date at least.

I know right!! Should be quite the site! I'll definitely get some pics!

So, I have been wanting to add some Chaeto to my sump, but my poorly designed sump doesn't have a good spot to add it... I think I'm just going to put the reflector and CFL over an extra tall salt bucket that's drilled at the top to overflow back into the sump. The chaeto will be in the bucket and possibly a dsb below it (I may put enough flow to keep the chaeto rolling in which case a DSB won't work)! Small little fuge for the growing of chaeto! I'll probably be able to get it done tonight and post pics tomorrow.

I have been hard at work on the tank lately!!

Temp acclimate, and then I put mine in a small plastic dish in the tank so that they crawl out and I can separate the dead ones from the live ones. Also I hate hermit crabs and sometimes a few sneak in.

hey man i saw that you had high salinity at one point, and I went through something similar. The refractometer that I got from BRS came with some calibration fluid and said DO NOT calibrate to zero with RO/DI, which was what I had always done and my friends did as well. So this became a debate on another local forum, and what was determined is that the calibration fluid is made to calibrate 1.026 or 35 ppt. So when you are calibrating to zero you are calibrating to a low end on the spectrum that you never even get close to using on the refractometer. When you use the correct calibration of where you will be testing this gives much more accurate readings. Everybody I knew was off by as much as .3, so when they thought they had 1.026 they really had 1.029 etc...

So I highly suggest getting some from BRS, its super cheap, and well worth it.

I made a mini fuge for chaeto and mangroves with a bulkhead and a gravity fed drain back to the tank. Just a little 7 gallon tupperware box will do, and the i t-d off my manifold valve with some compression tubing worked like a charm. For my new 125 set up Im doing something similar but with a 10g drilled glass aquarium and a powerhead to give it water.
