I have a few snails and a mithrax crab in my sump. I have guards(strainers) on my skimmer and return pumps.

Yeah eww that bucket probably wasn't the best choice. I am a painter and probably know more about buckets then anyone.lol I would worry about cracking the bucket more then anything. They do get more brittle over time plus it will flex the bucket while tightening the bulkhead as you already know.:(.Try a rubbermaid container.(square) They make them in ALOT of different shapes and sizes. Your system is looking incredible!!!!8)8)
I don't have any CUC in my sump.

I've never seen them local. I know BRS has them, and I've seen them for sale at one other online retailer...but I can't remember which one.

Yeah I was worried how it would hold up over time... Thanks for the compliment! It's really coming together now. I desperately need new photos. So much has changed since those pics on page 27. My entire rock structure is purple/pink and my corals are looking much better for the most part. (I do have a duncan colony that's been closed up for a couple days and is scaring me though)

Hmm... I bet I can find a more suitable container at lowes for the cost of the bulkhead then... Something that's a little shallower and more surface area would be a better chaeto bucket anyhow.. I'll look tonight and see what I can find. Thanks for the help!!

Ok!! Snails are in! And my first dose of Eco-Balance is in! And my first impression of Rods food veggie blend!

Rod's food was/is way more ground up than I expected... My fish seems kind of like they were looking for the meat!! I'm hoping it's because the bags had melted a bit and the edges are more smaller particles... So far I'm not overly impressed :(

My first dose of eco-balance by dr tim and nothing bad happened! We'll see. I don't expect to be able to see major improvements quickly.

    Snails.

I really wish I hadn't let my LFS handle the sump design... It's retarded. And I don't think I can get the 40b out to put in proper baffles/ put in a proper sump... I would love to get a proper sump built and use the 40b that's currently my sump for my frag system instead.

LOL! Most sumps need to be taken in/out through the top due to size.

Yeah... for me to get the sump out would take some SERIOUS work. I would probably have to build a header and brace to support the tank, remove the center brace in between the two access doors to get it out then rebuild an access panel after...

Not going to happen... So I'm stuck with my basket sitting in a 40b till my next tank upgrade I guess!
