Yup! That and zip ties!! Works great. Covered in hair algae right now, but that is already starting to die off. Just part of the cycle phase.

 

I managed to isolate the problem with my lights down to a single unit. They are sending a replacement board out and I'll be able to replace it here! No big deal!

My LFS ordered the wrong size t5s.. So I'm going to order KZ figi purple instead of ATI purple plus I had on order. I'm also pulling the VHO out, they are mounted too high to give any effect and the spectrum gets washed out by the Leds... I'm hoping I'll get better effect out of the T5s with reflectors. So, I'll be running 4 5ft T5HO and 5 AI sol super blues. I'm going to start with 4 KZ figi purple and if it's too pink I'll swap from there.


On the chemistry side:

My gallon of vinegar saturated in Kalk that I started dosing two weeks ago is now up to 14 mils a day. Still very conservative. I'm seeing.. and smelling a definite difference in skimmate. Stanks!!!

 

Ok. Got my AI lights fixed!!! Not too hard. Hardest part was pulling down the lighting rack and getting the AI in the middle out to replace the board. Here is a pic of the lights down on top of the tank then the AI taken apart.





And back up and on!!


All back together and looking great!! I still don't have the T5s in yet though... And I still need some way to close the gap between the tank and the canopy to block all the extra light that the VHO and t5 through into the room. No idea how I'm going to do this...

ZOMG, Grim, its getting better and better... Great job on the light as well! (what happened to your Nikon??)

 

The memory card was messed up and I haven't gotten a new one yet. I need to learn to work that thing and get with it. As soon as I slow down traveling for work and get back into a routine at home I'm going to learn to take pictures. (I have had to travel or had a guest in town every weekend for over a month now.) I'm so jealous of other peoples skills!!

Got my figi purples in.. and I can't get the end caps on, lol.. I didn't allow for enough clearance I'll have to pull the whole thing down again and work on it.. I'm about ready to bite the bullet on a diy led fixture... Or just say to hell with it. My tank looks great and I'm probably going to cause more problems than I fix if I keep chasing this. ("this" being 420nm and 660nm spikes)


In other news... I got a large rose bubble tip coming from my favorite LFS this week! Supposed to be pretty huge, so my 40b will be much prettier!

The kalk saturated vinegar solution I started dosing a while back is still going well. I'm up to dosing for 1.1ml an hour for 20 hours of the day. Definitely slowing down the consumption of 2part. In addition, I'm getting more skimmate and it really stinks.

 

So... My contract expired and my carrier got the Iphone recently... Which is kind of strange as it's the onluy regional carrier to have it, but whatever! Hopefully this means better pictures are coming! Which is the main reason I chose it lol. Eventually I'll learn to use the nikon though. Picture update coming tonight! Probably a video too.
