Acropora SP. I really don't know and it's no name brand.. though it should be. The pink tips didn't develop till going in my tank. When I bought it, it was dull green. It's front and center because of how much I love it.

I know 2 people with one and both love it. One of which has been running it for over a year now. They both recommended not getting a skimmate locker and if you do, to place it in the sump in case of overflows..

I'm going to install a float switch in my lid of my skimmer and I already added a drain line and valve. So I can make skimmer maintenance easy and lessen the likely hood of a cup of skimmer goo ending up in the sump, but if all fails, it will just be a typical skimmer fail and not a catastrophe.

That's why I asked. I love the color and contrast of the deep violet and teal. How much for a frag of it? :p

A friend from my local reef club came by to swap some frags and to help me learn photography a little better. Here are a couple shots he managed to get!

Grim, that tank looks VERY NICE!!!!!! I have really been working on my photos in my tank with my DSLR. the Best thing I started doing was shooting the photos in RAW and then adjusting the white balance in photoshop off that RAW file vs letting the camera do the white balance automatically or putting a white disk in the tank. My tank comes in right around 14,000K color wise. simply setting it to that lets me get the colors right.

I also lock mine in at 400 iso, and then set it to Aperature priority. this lets me determine the ammt of light going thru the lens and letting the camera do the rest. for corals, a shutter speed of 30-50 is perfectly fine (use a monopod or tripod) also an image that is slightly dark can be recovered better (in my opinion) than an image that is too bright in photoshop.

and are you using those ecoexotic lights as spot lights?

I'm having some trouble with the camera making everything look extra blue. In live view the red monti on my camera looks purple... Not sure what's causing that.

I'm using the ecoxotics as spots yes. I have two Acro colonies that like high light and weren't getting enough. So I ordered these to fill the gap right on them. I only have 1 hooked up so far, but I want to come up with a better mounting solution. The very large tabler is the other colony I plan to spot.
