:angry:I'm piecing together a new build!! Placed the order for the glass today!!! Going to be a slow build. All the corals will come from my 210g.

Tank: Marineland 300g Deep Dimension Starphire Glass w/ custom coast to coast overflow

    Custom stand, canopy, and sump

    Lighting: 60" ATI 10 bulb Powermodule T5 and 4 60" Super Actinic VHOs - (4 Blue+, 4 coral+, 2 Figi Plus)

Flow: 2 MP60wES, return on 2 3/4" sea swirls w/eductors, and either ocean motion 4 way w/ eductors or 2 additional mp40wES on the back glass

Dosing: Geo 818 Cal reactor on perstaltic pump and Aquariumplants electric regulator, I will also have my current 1.1ml BRS dosing pumps hooked up to compensate for any discrepancies and to dose other additives (vodka, bacteria, and mag)

Filtration: Warner Marine MFK251 with Avast swabbie head cleaner and 1.5gallon Skimmate locker; SRO biopellet reactor with Ecobak pellets, and BRS dual chamber reactor to run Rox.8 carbon. 1% TWV auto daily water change. 55 Gallon Brute cryptic refugium

ATO: Tunze osmolator with Auto water change mod (1% daily)

Controller: Apex with the many modules I have already collected.

I'm going a pretty different direction with this tank from my current one. My main goal is very low maintenance. I don't plan to mess with this one as much because I won't be doing any weird experimentation. I have figured out what I like from my 210 and plan to keep this one more simple. (famous last words)

I am heavily considering going with Blue Ribbon Eels as the fish theme for the build. SPS will still be my primary goal.

Wowzers! sounds like you can't go wrong that list of equipment.

    No ATS on this build?

No, not on this one. I am wanting to go a route that minimizes external alk consumption so I am trying to avoid ATS and GFO. Both of which can suck down alk and through a Ca reactor off. I also won't get good growth with the bacterial processes anyhow as they will keep me at 0/0. I'm going to keep it for a future FOWLR or NPS build.

This is going to be about opposite from my last build. T5 instead of LED, carbon dosing as opposed to ATS, and eels vs lots of large fish. - I hear so much crap talked about ATS and LED, I have had amazing results with both... I'm curious if there is any validity to trying the mainstream methods. Why not give it a shot! (also selling my old equipment is going to finance this build... which is the main reason for going these directions)

I hear ya. It's funny that you can literally deplete the minimal levels that acros need.

What are the exact dimension of the tank?

Got a killer deal on the T5s and My leds are going to finance the upgrade! Plus I want to see what the hype is with some other techs. I'm curious if my results could actually be that much better... (I seriously doubt it)

I think you are going to be happier with T5's. I run a 6 bulb T5 with blue LED just to supplement. The overall spread is better for the coral IMO, and you have so many color combos as well. There are 4 guys in my area that built their own 3watt Crees with fully dimmable features, and have all removed some of the LED's and added T5's back after about a year. just sayin...

I have had better results than anyone in my reef club that has t5s or MH.. Just sayin. I think most people are just more comfortable with what they have been doing for years. Change is hard. I know I'll have great results, but I'm still worried about the change. I'm going to be getting an overall par upgrade and the spectrum is much easier to accomplish because the road is paved with thousands of results where LED isn't there yet. But swapping techs is scary!
