Alright, I will not turn this into a debate, LOL you know I am an LED guy, but I am sure you will have a beautiful tank either way!

I know... I feel like I'm cheating on my diodes!!! I just want everyone to know that I am not swapping because of results in any way. I'm doing it to finance this unplanned upgrade lol.

By the time you are ready for your "ultimate build" in the house your building, LEDs will have advanced and maybe even become cheaper.

Yeah, a lot is going to happen in the next 2+ years before I'm ready for that...

Plasma may even be out by then.. who knows.

I'm stuck on a couple thoughts with this build.....

1.) Bare bottom (starboard bottom) Vs. SSB (1" or under.. heard good things about reef flakes?) Vs. CCB (crushed coral bed .5" or under)... My main concern is being able to hit the flow levels I want and not having the areas of no sand and areas of DSB like I do now. I like the look of sand, but I'm also going to be pushing some pretty serious flow with this build and the corals are always my number 1 priority. I want perfection in my SPS colors and am willing to go to pretty extreme lengths to achieve this.

2.) Flow wise I'm either going with my 2 mp60s and 2 mp40s, or with my 2 mp60s and a Closed loop on an ocean motions 4 way. I also plan to have my return hooked up to two sea swirls with eductors. So I should have some pretty amazing flow patterns no matter what. Still weighing benefits on each side... but it's looking like the vortech option is a more flexible, safer, cheaper (short term and long term) and quieter option than the closed loop... someone please correct more or provide personal experience if they disagree.

3.) The last major debate going on in my head is going with lots of small reef fish, namely anthias, chromis, and wrasse VS. going with my current fish and 2-3 blue ribbon eels.

Any and all opinions are welcome!

    1. I kind of like the idea of a SSB.
    2. I have no clue lol.
    3. I would do some schooling fish, but everyone has a different taste. What do you like more?

1.) I like the look of SSB, but I'm worried about having trouble hitting the 70x flow I want with typical sand.

    2.) me neither.. lol

3.) That's my problem... I LOVE it all!!!! I love ribbon eels.. but schooling anthias add such an amazing flash of color and will be seen as opposed to hiding all the time.

Those blue ribbon eels fade in color over the years, anthiases just keep getting better. Check out red bar anthias, they are the best ones IMO
