I think a few things affect this. First of all, the tank is much dimmer in pics than it is in real life, especially now that I got the t5 component working.

Also, the trim is better looking than the tank at the moment so it makes sense that it draws your eye up. Once it's filled with colorful sticks I think you won't even notice the canopy unless you are looking at the architecture of the room, where there is a ton of stuff to draw your attention.

And finally / most importantly. The canopy is a requirement of the tank as per SWMBO so she doesn't have to see the light spillage.

Ok! I'm now fully operational! all but one door is on.

Apex is operational in house. No more dragging a long ace ethernet cable across the house and down the stairs. Not sure I can do the port forwarding nightmare again. (I'm a tech tard)

Lighting is fully operational. Currently running Bali software for LEDS and 1 Aquablue special and one coral +. Will be going to 2 coral plus.

Flow is positioned and I have decided to only use 1 MP60.

And the first coral is added! A decent sized Tyree leather "5-6 inches" we'll see when opens up!!

Cleaned up the sump a good bit. It's just a lot of gear in a small space.

    And a FTS

Thank you! I'm so happy to have a fully operational tank again. It's been almost exactly one year since I took the 210g down. Seems like so much longer....

I guess we are on opposite sides right now. You're breaking down a beautiful long term display and I'm setting up a new one. I'm going to miss the updates of your tanks. Hopefully you will still be around living vicariously through us until the reef bug hits again.

well, it looks awesome!! Given what you showed, I would have to argue that you are not a tech tard :) everything looks well organized and slick! I do have to ask - what does the acronym SWMBO mean? I'm assuming significant other is part of it? You have a stunning home btw.

All my equipment is on the fritz right now... My heater isn't heating. My skimmer went nuts and was able to push water all over the side of my sump and soak my floor, and my apex isn't responding at all. Glad I didn't jump the gun on corals.

I think that's the most important part of waiting till you add sps. It isn't even water chemistry. It's equipment chemistry. Every new build I have had goes through a funk at first till I get the routine's and kinks worked out.

Still no such luck... yet. I have gotten a new heater and fixed my skimmer issue. But the Vortech is still not running and the apex isn't fully functional, I have to hard wire it again, but it is working. At least my 2 clowns and my leather will be just fine!
