What about building your own tank? You could order the glass sheets fairly cheaply from Glass Cages and then assemble the tank yourself. They sell regular plate glass as well as low iron glass. You can get the edges grinded in several ways, depending how fancy you want to go.

I would do no thicker than 1/2" glass on this. You could maybe do 3/8". Rimless of course.

Looks like a 1/2" LIG tank would be about $225 for the amount you need (36" x 18" x 22").

I have decided to forgo rimless and custom and just get a standard Marineland 65gallon. It's 36x18x24. I'll fashion my own coast to coast / bean animal overflow. I'm going to start off with some simple NPS and a few low light lovers. I'm thinking of picking up a pack LE chalices to go with the NPS.

Did you decide on a skimmer yet? I am leaning toward the ETSS-800XR powered by a Mag18 for my SPS/NPS setup.

I'm leaning pretty hard towards the ETSS 1500 powered by a PanWorld 250PS External Aquarium Water Pump - 1900gph - Bulk Reef Supply

I'm going to start off with just LPS style NPS and my algae scrubber and a strong W/C schedule and see how far I can push it without a skimmer. Once I get into the softies and gorgs I don't think there will be any chance without a serious skimmer.

Ordered my tank today! Marineland 65g (36x18x24), NOT reef ready. I'm going to do a coast to coast overflow with Bean Animal plumbing. So no need for the corner overflows.

Great choice on the overflow design.
