I have had a Grounding Probe for a long time and a thought occurred to me today that I have a lot of my equipment in my Fuge/Sump (Heater,2 pumps running my skimmer/other reactors), and my probe is in the main display tank. Do I need 2 Grounding Probes, 1 in the dt and 1 in the fuge/sump? If I have issues with the heater will the 1 Grounding probe in my display protect me where its not in the same tank?

Just Curious to find out before I have any issues.

Also how often should you replace the Grounding probe? My probe is already starting to be covered with coraline, is it still as effective when this happens?

One will be fine ;) I would scrape the coraline from it. Why not just put it in the sump also?

as pack said, one should work. Since water conducts electricity, if there is water connecting your sump and dt it will "connect" the stray curent to your probe.

I also have 4 circulation pumps/lights on my dt so I feel that I should have one at least in the display tank. I'll have to scrape the coraline off during my next tank cleaning.

I guess one will do then, I just wasn't sure if the overflow water volume was enough to connect the two with one probe.
