There are a lot of Hobby electrician who have never been subjected to a magnetic electrical field and never well be. Look The ocean is grounded and saltwater by its self can and does generate electrical currents and some rocks and elements will increase the voltage like a battery. And many also think that the tube we use for light do not seem to have electricity dancing all along the outside of the bulbs . Add a little moisture or slat creep you better give it a path to ground , This debate will go on and one I put a 10.00 probe in and not worry about it I have seen the voltage at 1.8 to knock snails out dead in a few hrs. I have seen it happen several times then add the probe snails where fine from then on out . I have seen it work on corals softs show the stress fast, Buttons and Zoas and shroooms and anemones all show it fast . I mean all the people always worrying about their many thousands of dollars of coral investments why take the chance on a shorted porwehead or lamp knocking the owner in the floor ? Ever seen a shark's reaction to a 1.5 v battery ? I assume all fish can feel it ever seen you fish just dart about for no reason ? a heater of pump or lights came on or off and they just go nuts . I have one all others do what suits them.. :)

I had a guy once who could not keep snails in a few hrs all died fell off and dead on the bottom, I told him to add the G/Probe he did ordered a new box of snails they died the same death LOL He called me to tell me they had all died the same way the that he did add the probe :) so there now what he asked ?? I said well have to tested for voltage ? Nope I just took that probe new out the box he said ! I said well have you tested the voltage ? or the probe ? NO! he said I said well would you test them for me ? He did and the probe did not ring out wiring was broken in the insulator from where ever he brought it ? I sent him a box of snails and a new probe form us. he put the probe in first then the snails and I never heard a complaint again problem solved and he paid for the snails LOL all 3 boxes .
I have never know an aquarium with a Probe to suffer from lateral Line HLLI I think they call it now ? I have never ran a tank with out one and I have seen many a tang to make a good recovery from the disease .. along with Broccoli feedings soaked in cod liver oil

Tangster, would you have to use two probes if running a sump? One in the sump and one in the display? Just curious, makes sense to me as you could have two different types of stray voltage.

I agree with you Tangster, since I have seen the difference first hand and so has many people in my shop asking why is your achillies so pale? Added the probe and back to sweet chocolate!

No sir just one in the sump, My sump is 30 ft over and 13 ft below and its all connected via the water in the lines . Its a good investment, Studies are showing increased problems with cancer and tumors with people living close to and near High tension transmission line from the magnetic filed like with Cell Phone also . I figure why not I have been shocked enough in my life LOL working for real money .

They are all about the same if you have a VOM meter ? or even a battery to test it with to be sure its connected on the inside I know of two that where bad out of the package Ridavolt is as good as any. Take a battery and hold one end on the + terminal and then Tap the - terminal and you should see a little spark that means its good to go or if you have a VOM then I'm sure you know how to ring it through .

Sounds good Tangster, didnt mean to cause any grief. I mean it makes sense either way in both articles. I`m gonna get one today and let you know if i see any difference, I do have a few snails now that i think about it that act a little funny sometimes. Thanks again for your info!
