I came into my office today, Tuesday, after the stormy weekend and found -- in my office tank -- exoskeletons from my cleaner shrimp and my porcelain crab. It's a 10g. Other than a single sexy shrimp these are the only two tank inhabitants that molt.
I don't think the crab ever molted before and the shrimp molts about every other month. Maybe it's a coincidence. Not a huge coincidence but enough of one to make me wonder. I work in a big office building that wasn't affected by the storm so it's unlikely to be stress. Do crabs molt from stress like shrimp anyway? Is there something interesting going or am I just mystified by a random world?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Inverts like shrimps and craps will molt in a response to stress and changes in water chemistry.

Anemones, clams will do the same.

+1 to this. Anemones split and clams spawn when stressed. Shrimp and crabs molt. Molting is normal, but I believe stress may have caused the two to do so at the same time.

Maybe the power went out for a bit or surged in the office.

    +1 to all the above.

Also, underwater creatures can, in fact, sense barometric pressure and many other atmospheric conditions, even in a glass box kept indoors.

Thanks for the great responses. Makes me wonder what other people have seen in their tanks that may have been the result of the storm.
