    I was having temps swings of 4-5 degrees, but I added a sump and now it's sits right at 77-78 constantly. The only fan I run is the overhead done. I imagine his tank will be fine in the cool basement open top (assuming here).

    Yes open top. No need for a screen. I don't plan on having any fishes in it ... MAYBE my ******* Female Occ. clown because shes become a bully.
