Growing cheato in 1st chamber of sump?

I just got a nice skimmer and it wont fit in the first or third chamber of my sump? My sump is acrylic. Can you remove baffles of an acrylic sump? Ive heard its harder than removing them in a glass sump because rather than silicone holding them in place, its glue? So i was wondering if cheato would grow in the 1st chamber where the water flows in?

Generally, macroalgae will grow anywhere as long as there is some light.

 

It should be OK, just be prepared to remove salt spray often from the light.

If you can put a powerhead in there of force the flow so the chaeto tumbles it will do better. I may put mine in the first chamber as well.
