Do corals like mushrooms replicate themselves if I only start with one? I know some people cut theirs up and then each pice will grow but if I don't want to do that will they split on their own?

I've never had mine split by themselves. I see them stick out a little "foot" of tissue, like a root, then disconnect the little bit of tissue. That will develop into a new baby mushroom.

Same thing happens when I scrape one off a rock...that little piece of tissue remaining grows into a new mushroom.

Yep, same with zoas and most other soft corals. Some others will disconnect part of itself and that piece will drop or float off to start a new colony.
