I am starting a "cold water" local species tank (native to long island) and was wondering if anyone has ever heard of growing tidal plants in a refugium? I was thinking of trying to grow glasswort, also known as picklewort, Salicornia Sp. (virginica is the species I think). It is a plant that lives on the tide line and tolerates heavy amounts of salt water and no drainage. Was wondering if anyone has had any luck with growing anything in a reugium that isnt underwater, but making the refugium more like a "shoreline" habitat high in the aquarium.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

Well I believe mangroves are grown this way, were the roots are in the saltwater and the plant is out of the water, I know a few people here that have them maybe they will chime in on it.
