I've got a six line wrasse that I've been planning on returning to the LFS. I want to add a couple more fish to the tank, but don't think he'd take it all that well. I purchased a acclimation box from Elite Aquatics and stuck it in the tank for the past couple weeks to let him get used to it being around. I have the time tomorrow to drive to the city, so I decided I'd try to catch him sometime tonight.

When I got home from work, I stuck a suction cup to the top of the lid, planning on using fishing line to hold it open after I put some food in the box. I held the lid open with my hand to see if it had enough clearance, and he swam up looking around being all curious. HE SWAM INSIDE THE TRAP! No food, nothing. I closed the lid and laughed.

Now, I know they like to have somewhere to sleep so I went out to the garage and got a couple PVC 90's to put in with him. I slid the box up on the glass and opened the lid to put them in, he jumped out.

Do I have any chance of catching him in this thing again?

Probably not anytime soon, if at all.

Sorry, but I had to laugh. Sounds just like my kind of luck.

It's funny now, I wasn't a very happy camper earlier though.

Oh man I feel your pain... There's a thread on here of someone that made a fish trap with a water/pop bottle and caught a sixline with it maybe try that design... I caught mine cus I knew what rock it slept in and and was able to lift the entire rock out of the tank with it still inside....good luck

On the bright side of things, I have two six lines in two diff tanks, and they have both takin well to other tank mates. it might just depend on the species your adding and the attitude of your sixline. id say hes pretty pissed off now though! might wana wait a bit before you even put your hand in the tank let alone add anything!

    gl!

I haven't even tried to catch him a second time, life back to normal for the guy now. Although he does seem to do the whole dominance dance a little more often the last couple days. ;)
