I think its a bit extreme to state to never use a tank again due to the copper. Most fourmulas actually naturally break down - then theres the use of many chemical filters and ozone to remove copper. Ozone is actually really effective as it completely distablizes the Cu atom, oxidising it into ...... well nothing.

I never thought of using that! I'll pick up one while my tank is cycling so I don't risk killing off any livestock, so I kill 2 birds with one stone. I'll just drop the O3 tubing into my skimmer and be done with it, right? I'll also look up how I should use it correctly. Maybe I should get a Aquacontroller3 for that tank.

I'm wondering if I use ozone to nuke the tank, will I still need to bleach the tank as well? Since I have no life in the tank, I should be able to crank up the O3 to double doseage before using the carbon to remove it, right? Thanks.

I don't know how well that would work. I think I'd still be concerned with the substrate and live rock as there is normally, a very slow turnover of water in these areas. Given enough time (not sure what that would be with out some research), it might work out for you...

I think that I'd be more inclined to break down the tank, clean it, and run the O3 very hard on the initial start up as part of the cycle process..

Yeah, I think I will tear it down and spray bleach water to kill any of the fungal spores in the water system first. It will give the O3 an easier time in killing off any other bad stuff in the water. I'll run my UV with it as well. I'll start that this weekend. I'm not looking forward to it, but I do look forward to having a healthy system again. :)
