GSP Colony not opening

Ive had a nice colony of GSP growing on a rock in my sand bed for at least six months now and all of a sudden its barely opening? Did my ricordea mushroom sting it, cuz it looks as if something has been irritating the skirt of the mushroom closest to the GSP? Will it recover? What should i do?:-/

 

pics would def help..but I know star polyps can close for a period of time for no real reason,mine have done this..just make sure there is no debris settling on them they don't like that..whats your params like..

 

+1 on that. Most likely no worries. as stated GSP does do this from time to time.

 

mine do this often enough I ignore it now.

A turkey baster to blow them off might help. But I wouldn't really worry about it. IMO, killing off GSP is like trying to get fireants out of your yard. Just ain't happening

 

mine have been closed for three days now because my powder blue tang has started eating it. you haven't seen any suspicious fish hanging around have you?

 

Adequate water flow is essential for the healthy and success of maintaining GSP. Algae growth or detritus accumulation will cause the polyps to remain retracted eventually leading to the demise of the colony.

 

My colony closed up for a few days once. I found a nearby powerhead slid down and was pointed right at it. Moved the powerhead and its been fine ever since.

 

sweet. ill just blow the colony off and make sure its getting good flow.

 

you cant kill gsp. its like the pesky neighbor you just cant get rid of! It will open up again. Sometimes mine close up for 3 or 4 days at a time. No worries.
