I have a big piece of rock that started with a patch of GSP on it, and a little Blue ridge stuck to it as well. The blue ridge has grown a good bit and now that I have my doser is doing very good, I can almost see growth on a daily basis. It is the same for the GSP, it's starting to go wild and it's growing all around the blue ridge.

I really like both of them, but I'm afraid the GSP will eventually grow over the Blue ridge. Will any of this two digest each other when in contact, or will the GSP just grow over it and kill it this way? So far, it seems to stay off from the blue ridge, but I think it's just a matter of time. I could frag the BRC but I would like to keep it in one piece since it is just starting to grow nicely.

    What's your advice?

I forgot to say, the GSP is starting to kill the shrooms on the lower part of the rock. It seems they'll be grown over quickly.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    The GSP will win IMO.

Sometimes you can peel the GSP off is you get under it at a good angle.

I would do both, frag a smaller pieces of the blue ridge and attempt to cut back the GSP as needed.

The overall pieces looks very nice though. But your right you are going to have to interven to keep that way.

Yeah, I agree. Somebody mentioned horror stories about GSP taking over entire tanks a while ago... I would not let that happen, but I know it is a possibility. I may try to put a piece on the glass and trim it as Needed with a blade by scraping it off when it gets too big... I think this is a good way to keep it where it needs to be.

I'll try scraping some off and see what happens.

I would be surprised if the GSP won a battle with the shrooms

IME having had shrooms (brown fuzzy ones) on a rock with GSP , I found that the GSP polyps would not open in close proximity to said shrooms

GSP wins all the time...the mat and how fast it grows and how crazy hard it is too kill...ITs amazing...i have had a frag in my tank that has been setup for 5 days..and its already grown.

Sure!! How big is he? I'll borrow it for a few weeks and then ship it back..... or, will I??? ;)

Yep... that was the id provided by the 3reefers. It didn't take long to ID, but Tomita had her fun in the process. Where's my karma for the ID?? :p

I'm afraid that's what's going on. I can see part of the BRC kind of lifting up a bit and "trying" to grow over the GSP, but I think he's just being plain silly. I had a thought about gluing some GSP to the glass to have a manageable and easily fragable patch, cut and frag some of the blue ridge and I guess I'm not so worried about the shrooms.. I could get one or two out of there for keeps sake. Then.. it's all about nuking that rock!! I really don't want this to take over. If it starts to cover the whole rock, it's a goner fo show! :)
