    Welcome to 3reef.

    What are the parameter numbers?
How much circulation do you have? GSP likes good to strong circulation.

It's always helpful to have the LFS give you the actual readings of your parameters to help you learn the needs of your tank. Plus it gives you a record of things so you can tell when something might be going wrong.

As far as the GSP, it is a fairly hardy coral and can sometimes stay closed for awhile if it is unhappy.

The best way for anyone here to be able to try and pinpoint a problem, would be if we knew the exact numbers of your parameters.

BTW, welcome to 3reef. There are a bunch of great folks here that will be glad to help you!

You could probably double the circulation rate without any problem. You need your phosphate to be around .05 ppm and nitrate at 10 ppm or lower.

Does it disingrate into pieces when you brush it off? gsp get a disease (can't remember the name of it) where it will flake apart. also what type of lighting do you have? if you have just one 50/50 thats not enough.

sediment blocking the pores can cause this IME - but you have scrubbed them so this should not be your problem

what temp is your tank currently at?
GSP can close for a week or more when 1st introduced yet on other occasions can open fully within a few hours of being introduced IME - both extremes can be considered normal

temp is at 77-79 depending on time of day. pieces fall off when i brush it. I was told i 50/50 light would be sufficent for these corals, since mymushrooms, zoas, palys, and my other gsp are doing great! this is the only one that is causing me a problem
